Robert Englund to Guest Star on ‘Supernatural’

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

Freddy Krueger vs. the Winchester boys? Pure genius. It’s a ‘Supernatural‘ match made in heaven!

The Ausiello Files reports that ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ star — and all-round super-scary person — Robert Englund has signed on to guest star on ‘Supernatural.’ However, it seems that Englund may be playing against type as his character will be trying to save one of the Winchesters, not trying to kill him. Or so it seems …

Sources say that Englund will play a character known only as “Dr. Robert.” Executive producer Sera Gamble explained that “Hunters often find themselves in situations where they need medical attention but can’t exactly stroll into an ER. … Robert plays an unlicensed doc who makes his living stitching folks up on the down low. One of our guys goes to him with a life-or-death problem.” (Hmmm, anyone else picking up possible zombie vibes right now?)
Englund rocketed to fame in the ’80s portraying disfigured slasher Freddy Krueger in the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ movie franchise. He’s recently guest-starred as a creepy janitor on ‘Bones,’ and will appear as nightmare-inducing villain, Dr. Stanley, in next week’s Halloween-themed episode of ‘Chuck.’

Look out for Englund as “Dr. Robert’ in the Dec. 10 episode of ‘Supernatural.’

Supernatural‘ airs Fri., 9PM ET on CW.

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

“What’s faster than a speeding bullet?” will be the easily-guessed quiz for the next episode of “Smallville“. In “Shield“, an assassin named Deadshot (guest star Bradley Stryker) takes aim at new Daily Planet reporter by the name of Kat but Clark learns the man has a dangerous hidden agenda that involves The Blur.

Lois departs for Egypt and Carter Hall (guest star Michael Shanks) turns up in there to keep an eye on her and he tells her about his wife Shayera (guest star Sahar Biniaz). Hall is the real name of fellow superhero Hawkman who had appeared in the show’s “Absolute Justice” episode in February.

Immediately after “Smallville“, “Supernatural” takes over with the episode called “Two and a Half Men“. Sam investigates a case about missing babies whose parents are being murdered. At one of the crime scenes, he discovers a baby that was left behind and calls Dean for help. Reluctant to leave Lisa and Ben, Dean finally agrees to meet Sam and surprises his brother with how parental he has become.

The brothers take the baby to Samuel, who decides to raise it as a hunter, which infuriates Dean. However, before they can decide the baby’s future, a shape-shifter breaks in and attempts to kidnap the baby.

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

The “Supernatural” panel at the San Diego Comic Con International this year has just gone a notch more interesting. The horror series’ two leading men are confirmed attending the panel which is scheduled to take place on the last day of the convention, Sunday, July 25 at Ballroom 20 starting 11:15 A.M.

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles missed the biggest event for fanboys last year because they were catching up with the shooting schedule in Vancouver. In this summer 2010, both will spare time for the audience along with co-stars Misha Collins and Jim Beaver, as well as executive producers Eric Kripke, Ben Edlund, and new showrunner Sera Gamble.

According to the description from the official Comic Con site, the panel which will go one-hour long includes an exclusive sneak peek at footage from the highly anticipated sixth season, a Q & A session and a screening of the special features from the upcoming Supernatural: The Complete Fifth Season DVD and Blu-ray release.

Little is known about the sixth season because production was only kicked off recently in Vancouver. But it’s known that Ackles will make his directorial debut in the fourth episode. Meanwhile, “Exile on Main Street” which is the first return episode, will air Friday, September 24.

Supernatural – Will John Return?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

The CW’s sexy creepy Supernatural kicked off its fifth and possibly final apocalyptic season last Thursday, and one question hangs in every fan’s mind: Will we see the return of John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the hellbound dad of demon hunters Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles)?

Since we last saw Daddy Winchester, of course, Morgan has exploded into a big-time movie star with a breakout starring role in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen and upcoming parts in several big Hollywood movies.

But Morgan told a group of reporters (including SCI FI Wire) last week that he’d love to make a return, although he hasn’t yet been formally approached.

“I just read somewhere that [series creator Eric] Kripke wants me back,” Morgan said. “That guy, I think he’s probably lying, but if it is, in fact, their last year, I’d like to come back. If it really is going to be canceled after this year, I’d like to come back. I’ve been saying for the last four years that that storyline got cut out too soon. I’d love to go back for at least one episode or something. I love those guys. I love Jared and Jensen so much. We’ll see. No one has contacted me.”

What about rumors that Kripke may ultimately reboot the series with a new cast? Morgan gladly offers his two cents.

“I heard that, too, getting new actors and everything,” Morgan said. “Jared and Jensen wouldn’t even be in it. I can’t imagine Warner Brothers saying, ‘Yeah, that’s cool. You can get rid of Jared and Jensen.’ They were going to, like, take on secondary characters, maybe. I just don’t see that happening. If you take out Jared and Jensen, you’re going to lose 90 percent of your audience, probably. I can’t imagine them doing that, but it makes for a great [story] if you say that kind of stuff. I can’t imagine that. Warner Brothers is just like, ‘Yeah, whatever, dude. We’ll see you next year.’”

“But yeah, I’d love to go back,” Morgan added, flashing that 1,000-watt grin. “I don’t know how I’d find the time, but we’ll see.”

Supernatural airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on The CW.

What do you think? Should Kripke bring back John?

Supernatural – Eric Kripke Interview

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

Supernatural exec producer Eric Kripke gave us such good scoop on Season 5 back in July, so we thought we’d go back and try for some more. With new episodes set to return Thursday, September 10, the cult show’s creator tells us about writing for God, Castiel’s future, President Sarah Palin and what 2014 will look like for the Winchester Brothers. Think zombies. And then there’s what we all want to know: Could there be a Season 6?

You have Lucifer [Mark Pellegrino] as a character. How about God? Where’s the High Holy been?
I know it sounds nuts, but God will be a character on Supernatural this season. He’s vanished from Heaven, which is why the Angels have taken over the joint, but we’re planning on God’s return, probably around the end of the season. This story thread has generated much hilarity in the Supernatural writer’s room. We ask ourselves questions like, “Well, what’s God’s motivation in this scene?” And then we start laughing, cause, you know, Gossip Girl just ain’t having these problems.

How will God enter into the battle?
Tune in.

Who will play Him—or Her? (Well, why not?)
You’ll see.

What can you tell us about Castiel [Misha Collins] and his future on the show? Haven’t the Angels turned against him? Will he basically be in the same condition as the Hunters?
Cass returns to the show as a hunted fugitive. All of Heaven is out to kill him. Some of his powers are beginning to fade. In short, he’s totally boned. But on top of that, he has an interesting story arc. Now that he’s cut off from heaven, he’s learning more and more, how to be human. Which leads to stories that are sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, and hopefully both. But he still looks the same—trenchcoat, tie, Misha’s face. No worries there.

Will any of the hunters be back this season to help Sam [Jared Padalecki] and Dean [Jensen Ackles] and Bobby [Jim Beaver]? If so, which ones?
We plan on bringing back practically every hunter who’s alive and kicking. It’s the Apocalypse, and it’s all hands on deck. Ellen [Samantha Ferris]. Jo [Alona Tal]. Rufus [Steven Williams]. Also, Chuck [Rob Benedict], though he’s technically not a hunter. I love bringing back characters that the boys have a history with—it leads to more interesting scenes—at least, I hope they’re more interesting. Who knows? You tell me.

How will the Apocalypse develop through the season? Will it literally be hell on earth?
Well, that’s the tension of the season. Things start bad—North Korea’s arming up, swine flu rips across the country, hurricanes slam into American cities—oh wait, all that is going on now. But seriously, we start bad and get worse. And the big question is, can Sam and Dean short-circuit the Apocalypse, before the planet is roasted alive?

What will we see when the show leaps five years into the future? Were you joking at Comic-Con when you said Sarah Palin would be President? If you weren’t, is that an indication of the aforesaid hell on earth?
No, we weren’t joking. Like I said, it is the Apocalypse, after all. Beyond that, the world in 2014 is a entertainingly nasty place to be. The Croatian virus, introduced in Season 2, has spread worldwide, resulting in a 28 Days Later situation. Our band of hunters have resorted to living in the woods, protecting as many terrified survivors as they can. When we meet our heroes in the future, we’ll see that time has changed them. Especially Castiel. But on the plus side, Chuck is living with the guys at the refugee camp, and he’s still as neurotic as ever.

Any hints on the infamous Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse?
They don’t ride horses. They drive muscle cars. The first horseman will be played by Titus Welliver, a brilliant actor and one of the regulars on Deadwood.

Will we see the boys’ dad, John Winchester, again? If so, could it be with an actor other than the super busy Jeffrey Dean Morgan?
It will either be Jeffrey, or we won’t do it. And yes, it is a matter of working out schedules. I’d love to make something work, if it was possible.

Are you looking to wind the show up as you have often said at the end of Season 5?
At the beginning of Supernatural, I had a five year plan, and, with some notable exceptions, I’ve stuck with that. And so, now that I’ve come this far, I feel I gotta take it the rest of the way home. Yes, this season, we are going to wrap up this storyline. We’re not going to stretch it out into Season 6, or otherwise dilute it. We’re going to make sure it’s told with a bang. This chapter is over, but that’s not to say another chapter won’t begin. If we returned for Season 6, we would commence a new epic storyline.

With your competition this season—Grey’s Anatomy, CSI, Fringe and the NBC comedies—do you identify with Sam and Dean? Your doughty little show against the big guns?
Yes. I’ve always felt like the screaming Japanese tourist underneath Godzilla and Mothra. But honestly, that’s where I like to be. I like being the underdog. That way, you can still surprise people.
